- The goal of the International Association of Hazardous Materials Technicians is to enable hazmat teams to communicate with each other to learn from others experience and have a source to answer operational questions regarding standard operating procedures, equipment inventories, and staffing levels.

American Hospital Association (AHA).
- The AHA is one of several partners in the National Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Initiative, offering doctors and other health professionals information on terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, and disaster preparedness. The AHA's site includes a report on Hospital Preparedness for Mass Casualties (Word Document Format). This report stems from an invitational forum held on March 8-9, 2000 with support from DHHS's Office of Emergency Preparedness.

American Psychiatric Association (APA).
- The APA is a world-class, medical specialty society specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional illnesses and substance use disorders. This site includes a section discussing the management of fear created by chemical, biological, and nuclear accidents and terrorism as well as psychiatrists' role in response to these incidents. There is also a section entitled, "Coping with a National Tragedy."

Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).
- The APIC is a non-profit international organization dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare through the practice and management of infection control and the application of epidemiology in all health settings. In cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, APIC offers for ordering this Bioterrorism Readiness Plan: A Template for Healthcare Facilities. This plan outlines the steps necessary for responding to the biological agents most likely to be employed in any future attack.

- The International Association of Fire Chiefs (ICHIEFS) is a network of more than 12,000 chief fire and emergency officers. Their members are experts in: fire fighting, emergency medical services, terrorism response, hazardous materials spills, natural disasters, search & rescue, and public safety legislation. This site contains a links page to useful sites such as government, non-profits as well as a media and news release section containing a variety of articles back to 1998. In addition, the site contains a link to Firehouse Magazine which provides current news, training information and a calendar of upcoming events.

- This association provides a variety of information for those firefighters in the State of Kansas including training articles and material, legislative information, and information on regarding regional fire schools.

National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR).
- NASAR is a non-profit membership association comprised of thousands of dedicated paid and non-paid professionals - all active or interested in search and rescue, disaster aid, emergency medicine and awareness education. An online bookstore provides a catalog of books in the areas of medicine, search and rescue operations, preparedness, canine search and rescue, stress management and children's books. The site also contains a calendar of training opportunities including K-9 training. There are also links to search and rescue teams, a message board, and a real-time chat room.

- NACCHO is the national organization representing local public health agencies. The association is working to improve local health agencies' capacity to respond to bioterrorism and other communicable disease and environmental health threats.

National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).
- NAEMT represents 750,000 pre-hospital care providers in the U.S. and around the world. NAEMT develops, hosts and supports a wide variety of workshops and programs, all fully approved for continuing education credit. With education being vital to their purpose, NAEMT has developed the EMS academy to assure standardization in all educational programs developed by the association. A book store provides EMS and emergency services related books, software, and video titles. A training calendar can also be found.

- NEMA is the professional association of state and pacific caribbean insular state emergency management directors committed to: providing leadership and expertise in comprehensive emergency management; serving as a vital information and assistance resource for state and territorial directors and their governors; and forging strategic partnerships to advance continuous improvements in emergency management. The site contains an online library containing documents and presentations pertaining to NEMA.

National Governors Association's Center for Best Practices.
- The NGA has an interest in responding to domestic terrorism and in ensuring the ability of state and local authorities to conduct effective consequence management. The NGA's Center for Best Practices maintains active projects on both domestic terrorism and chemical emergency management. The Center's site contains a collection of federal legislation, links, reports, commissions, speeches, testimony, papers, documents, and state activities on domestic terrorism.
