Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism Lawson Terrorism Information Center

Lending Policy

MIPT offers users two options for borrowing books:
  • The Lawson Terrorism Information Center prefers to operate through the Online Computer Library Center's (OCLC) Interlibrary Loan Service. OCLC is an international consortium of libraries, including public, special, government and academic libraries who through a membership agreement with OCLC share information via an online interlibrary loan system.
  • As an alternate, individuals without access to the OCLC Interlibrary Loan System may request material directly from the Lawson Terrorism Information Center by filling out the request form available on the Lawson Terrorism Information Center website. The Lawson Terrorism Information Center will provide a postage-paid return package to return items to Terrorism Information Center.
The Lawson Terrorism Information Center will not lend the following types of materials:
  1. Material in high demand at the physical library (e.g. reference material, journals, etc.)
  2. Unique, rare or valuable material that would be difficult to replace.
Users may not have more than three (3) items checked out at once.

Photocopies

The Lawson Terrorism Information Center will provide photocopies of journal articles or short sections of books at no charge as long as the usage meets the "fair use" requirements in accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. Section 107.

Charges

There is no charge for photocopies, loans, shipping, or any other interlibrary loan service. The Lawson Terrorism Information Center charges full replacement cost for lost items. Borrowers will receive a bill for materials not returned to Terrorism Information Center.

Loan Period

The Lawson Terrorism Information Center loans materials for four weeks with one renewal possible (unless the item is in high demand).
